FRANCES S. LEE

“What does Black Lives Matter Entail?” is a zine I designed in my Cultural Studies graduate program. Text author is Nejat Kedir, a member of my cohort. In it, Nejat writes about the intertwined struggle of Black lives and indigenous lives, and makes connections between capitalism, the prison industrial complex, indigenous sovereignty, and environmental justice.

My influences for this project are the aesthetics of Emory Douglas’s work for the Black Panthers, and the anti-oppression principles of the Design Justice Network.
